Find and manage your devices

Use Devices or Home to find a physical device, then open its details to manage the settings and controls it supports. Name changes, room settings, and Pin to dashboard are separate controls. Some device pages show state that is read-only, so reported values should be checked carefully.

Find the device

Choose Devices, or find the device in Home and its room. The device list contains physical hardware. Music libraries and presence-only phone records are not device-list hardware, and a library remains accessible from Media and Integrations.

Open and manage device details

  1. Open the device to see the controls it actually supports.
  2. On the phone, edit the name, then choose Save the name to save it.Save the name
  3. Keep the old name cancels the name edit.
  4. Room settings and Pin to dashboard are separate controls in the device details. On the web, use the corresponding named edit, room, and pin controls. Some pages also expose an icon choice.Pin to dashboard
  5. Confirm the saved name or room before leaving.

Read device state carefully

A sensor is read-only. A light can expose a power control and brightness; a lock asks for confirmation. A camera opens a player rather than acting from an ordinary toggle. Unknown is not Off. A requested value may appear while the device is still answering, and it can change again once the device reports back.

If the device cannot be reached

  1. Check the shown connection and the device's power and network.
  2. Do not repeatedly run a lock, brew, or other consequential action to test connectivity.
  3. Retry reading. If it remains unavailable, use Support with the room, device, and visible error.
  4. A configuration restriction may require the installation partner, while ordinary permitted controls remain distinct.
