Open the device and review its readings
Open the actual device first. Choose the correct home, open Home or Devices, then open the device. The device details screen shows only the capabilities returned for that device, so the labels you see can differ by device and platform.
- Look for the network readings Online, Devices connected, Address, and Model. These are read-only readings for network equipment.
- Check the connection readings Signal, Measured, and Access point. Signal and Measured show the last reported connection, and Access point names the network association.
- If Reconnect is shown, use it only for that device. It requires confirmation and may interrupt the connection.Reconnect
- If Accepting new devices is shown on the hub, that control opens pairing where supported. Devices through this hub is only a reading, not a control.Accepting new devices
What you should see afterwards
After you open the device, you should see the device-specific readings and any supported controls for that home. Online, Devices connected, Address, Model, Signal, Measured, and Access point appear only when the device returns them. If the hub supports pairing, Accepting new devices appears as a control and Devices through this hub appears as a reading.
If the device does not respond
- Unknown means no valid reading. It does not mean Off or zero.
- A requested value is provisional until the home answers.
- If the device is unreachable, check power and the displayed connection.
- Use Support with the room, name, and the problem you observed.
- Do not repeatedly run an action to diagnose a failed read.
Platform wording can differ when a specialized phone view uses different labels. Use the exact label shown in your app on web, iOS, or Android, and do not assume the same gesture or wording across platforms.
