Add and calibrate a curtain motor

WebiPhoneAndroid

Add a Bluetooth curtain motor to your home, then calibrate its opening direction and full travel so everyday curtain controls work correctly. Web, iOS, and Android support acquisition and calibration. TV supports only Open, Close, position, and Stop controls and does not use this setup flow.

Add the curtain motor

Use the Bluetooth curtain add flow to bring the motor into your home. You will choose a hub, scan for the motor, name it, and assign it to a room if you want.

  1. Open Add device and choose the available hub Bluetooth discovery flow.
  2. Choose a hub in the Hub list.
  3. Select Scan for 30 seconds.
  4. When the scan finishes, select the detected motor. If your curtain uses two motors, select both only when you know they belong to the same curtain. Nearby motors are never paired automatically.
  5. Enter a Curtain name.
  6. Choose a Room or leave it as Assign later.
  7. Select Add curtain.

After the add step finishes, the curtain is part of your home. You can open its device screen to set up travel limits if configuration is available on your hub.

Calibrate opening direction and travel

Calibrate the exact motor you added. Recognition alone does not confirm calibration or movement support. Each acquired motor is configured separately, and one motor’s settings do not carry over to another motor.

  1. Open Configuration for the curtain motor.
  2. Select Set up curtain or Review curtain setup.
  3. Stay beside the curtain, clear people, pets, and objects from its path, and select I’m beside the curtain.
  4. Choose which way it opens: Opens left or Opens right.
  5. Confirm that the curtain is fully closed.
  6. Select It’s fully closed to begin calibration.
  7. Use Start opening and, if needed, Continue opening while the curtain moves. Select Stop as needed, then confirm Fully open at the intended open limit.
  8. Use Start closing and, if needed, Continue closing while the curtain returns. Select Stop as needed, then confirm Fully closed at the intended closed limit.
  9. Select Save and verify.
  10. Wait for the saved calibration confirmation before using ordinary position commands.

On success, the motor reports fresh saved travel and the setup sheet closes when you select Done. The taught open and closed ends remain saved.

What you should see afterwards

  • The curtain shows as calibrated after the motor confirms saved travel.
  • Ordinary Open, Close, position, and Stop controls can be used when they are available for that platform and device.
  • TV uses supported Open, Close, position, and Stop controls only and does not open the calibration flow.
  • Queued, acknowledged, or similar waiting states do not prove that the curtain reached its position.

Troubleshooting

  • If Scan for 30 seconds is not available, choose a different hub or wait for the hub to support curtain discovery.
  • If the motor is not found, move the hub closer and scan again.
  • If Set up curtain is unavailable, the hub does not yet support the needed setup flow for that motor.
  • If Stop is unavailable during movement, leave the curtain path clear and exit setup only after the motor is safe.
  • If the motor does not confirm Fully open or Fully closed, stop the curtain, check its position by hand if needed, and repeat calibration from the beginning.
  • If calibration does not save, wait for the saved calibration confirmation and do not use ordinary position commands yet.
