Connect HomeKit accessory

Before you connect

This workflow is for a HomeKit accessory in your own home. Open HomeKit accessory only where it is available in your home, and review the availability and limits before you start. A hosted account alone cannot discover accessories on a private home network.

If the accessory is already paired elsewhere, use that device’s own pairing instructions before changing that pairing. Keep the accessory close enough to your home network to answer during setup.

Set up the accessory

1. Open HomeKit accessory in the list of integrations for your home.
2. Enter Setup code using the eight-digit code printed on the accessory or shown in its app.
3. Choose Connect.Connect
4. If ALYT shows a further pairing prompt for that accessory, follow only that prompt.

What you should see afterwards

After ALYT confirms the connection, review the discovered items. If the accessory offers it, use Look for accessories to refresh the list. Open the related device to check its reported state. A successful connection does not mean the device has already carried out a command.

Limits

• A hosted account alone cannot discover accessories on a private home network.
• This workflow uses the accessory’s HomeKit pairing code, not a separate cloud sign-in.
• A connected accessory may still need its own room or device review after it appears.

Troubleshooting

If the connection fails, read the on-screen error and correct the field or network it identifies, then try again. Do not create duplicate connections to investigate an unclear result.

If the accessory is already paired somewhere else, remove or reset that pairing first using the accessory’s own instructions. If you want to remove this connection from ALYT, choose Disconnect, read the consequence, and confirm the named Disconnect action. Keep cancels without removing anything.

If you need to report a problem, do not include passwords, tokens, or keys in the message.
