Connect Plex in ALYT so this home can browse a Plex library and send compatible music to a room. This guide follows the current homeowner workflow for the available local connector.

Before you start

Open Plex from Media connections and check its availability and limits before you begin. This connection uses the local connector workflow, and no cloud mode applies here.

Connect Plex

  1. Open Media connections and choose Plex.
  2. In the field labeled Plex server address, enter the address that ALYT can reach from this home.
  3. In the field labeled Plex token, enter your Plex authentication token.
  4. Choose Connect.Connect
  5. If ALYT asks for more information, enter only what the screen requests and choose Continue.
  6. When the connection finishes, choose Open the library to review the music library.
  7. If you want the list refreshed later, choose Read the library again.Read the library again

What you should see afterwards

After a successful connection, Plex appears in this home’s media list. You can open the library to browse the items ALYT discovered, and Read the library again refreshes that saved listing when offered.

Limits

  • Plex uses the local connector workflow and does not use no cloud mode.
  • ALYT plays compatible MP3, AAC, ALAC, WAV and FLAC audio directly, up to 48 kHz and 16 bits in mono or stereo.
  • Audio conversion is not included.
  • Up to 200 songs can be sent to Sonos in one queue.
  • Links expire after 24 hours, so you may need to select the music again.
  • Disconnect removes ALYT’s library and stops existing audio links, but it keeps your Plex files and playlists.

Troubleshooting

If the connection fails, check Plex server address and Plex token first. Make sure the server address is reachable from ALYT and that the token is valid for the libraries you expect to see.

If the library looks out of date, choose Read the library again.

If you do not see the library screen after connecting, choose Open the library.

If you no longer want this connection, choose Disconnect and read the consequence before you confirm.

If the home does not offer Media connections or does not show Plex as available, this task is not available in this home.
