Reconnect the device
Open the lost Zigbee device in your home. On web, iPhone, and Android, this repair flow is available on the device’s Zigbee connection section.
- Check the connection status shown for the device. You may see Connected to your hub, This device needs attention, Connection monitoring unavailable, or Waiting for a verified check-in.
- If the status says Connection monitoring unavailable, stop here for now. The hub must be online and running the Zigbee recovery update before this connection can be checked or repaired.
- Start Reconnect for this device.
- Keep the device powered and within range, then follow the instructions shown for that model. For a battery device, wake it using the manufacturer’s button instructions.
- If the device is a vibration sensor model DJT11LM or lumi.vibration.aq1, keep the sensor near its usual location. Press its button briefly to wake it. If it has left the network, hold the button for about five seconds until the blue indicator flashes, then release and briefly press it as needed during setup.
- If the device is lock model 99100-045, keep the door open and use the lock’s network pairing button according to its manual. Do not factory-reset it or erase access codes. Reconnect sends no lock or unlock command.
- Wait while the status updates. During repair you may see progress details such as preparing recovery, waiting for the device, configuring, or waiting for the hub.
- Do not create a duplicate device while this repair is in progress. Use Reconnect for an existing lost device rather than creating a duplicate.
What to expect
The device shows its last verified radio contact when one is available. If no fresh contact has been verified yet, the page says so.
Battery devices may also show that they sleep between reports and are monitored without repeated pings.
- If reconnection succeeds, the status says The device has answered and its configuration is confirmed.
- If the device is already checking in normally, the status can show Connected to your hub.
- If the device still has not checked in on time, the status can show This device needs attention.
Delete the device instead
Delete is separate from reconnection. Remove this device only if you want it removed from the home and its security configuration.
- Open the same Zigbee connection section for the device.
- Choose Delete device.
- Review the impact list before confirming. If routines are affected, each routine is listed with its result, such as device actions removed, disabled for review because a trigger or condition is removed, or removed because no actions remain.
- If the page says The device did not confirm leaving. Removing it locally still requires a physical reset before it can be paired again, only confirm deletion if you understand that reset will still be required before pairing it again.
- Confirm the deletion, or choose Keep device to leave everything unchanged.
Troubleshooting
- If Reconnect is unavailable, the hub may be unavailable, the device may not have loaded its current Zigbee status yet, or your account may not have permission to configure this home.
- If the device is battery powered, it may not answer immediately. Sleeping battery devices can wait for their next report and must not be treated like mains-powered devices.
- If the page tells you the device needs reset or shows a failure message, follow the model-specific instructions shown on the screen and try again if appropriate.
- If the device is a door lock, do not repeatedly lock or unlock it to test connectivity.
- Do not factory-reset the whole hub to recover one lost Zigbee device.
- If you see an error message on the page, use that message as the current result of the attempt.
Web, iPhone, and Android support reconnecting and deleting from the Zigbee connection section. TV is for status and usage.
