Connect Zigbee

WebiPhoneAndroid

Use Zigbee in your own home to let compatible devices join your ALYT hub, place them in the right Room, and manage recovery or removal later if a device stops checking in.

Connect Zigbee devices to your home

Zigbee is built into a supported ALYT hub, so you do not sign in with another account to use it. You open Zigbee in your home, let devices join for a limited time, follow the pairing steps shown for the device you are adding, and then name and place each device as it appears.

  1. Choose the correct home first. On the web, open Integrations. On iPhone or Android, open Settings, then Integrations.Integrations
  2. Open Zigbee and review the information shown there so you can confirm it fits the device you want to add.
  3. Start Zigbee pairing from your home. Use Add a device from Home or choose Let devices join in the existing Zigbee integration. [Let devices join, refresh-cw]Let devices join
  4. If ALYT asks what you are adding, select the device type, brand, family, or model that matches your device.
  5. Choose Start pairing. The join window lasts two minutes after the hub confirms that joining is open.
  6. Follow the exact pairing instructions shown for your device in ALYT. If the device was paired to another hub before, it may need the model-specific reset steps shown there. Do not use a generic reset method for a different brand or model.
  7. If you are pairing a lock, keep the door open while you follow its instructions.
  8. Watch the joining area while the device joins. Looking at progress does not extend the two-minute join window.
  9. When the device appears, give it a name, choose its Room, and choose Done. Room is where you place the device in your home, and Done finishes this part of setup.
  10. Open the new device afterwards and confirm that it reports state in ALYT.

What you should see after setup

Each device that joins should appear in your home and stay associated with the Zigbee integration. After you assign its Room and select Done, you should be able to open the device page and see its reported state. Simply opening the joining screen is not proof that the device paired successfully.

Battery devices can sleep between reports, so a newly added battery-powered device may not update immediately. ALYT waits for a real check-in from the device instead of repeatedly pinging it.

Reconnect a Zigbee device that needs attention

If an existing Zigbee device stops reporting normally, open that device’s details page. There you can review its connection status, including the last verified radio contact.

  1. Open the Zigbee device that needs attention.
  2. Read the connection status and any guidance shown on that device page.
  3. If available, choose Reconnect to keep the same device identity and let the hub restore its configuration.
  4. Keep the device powered and nearby while ALYT checks it. For some battery-powered devices, follow the wake or pairing instructions shown on screen so the device can answer.
  5. Wait for ALYT to confirm the result on the device page.

Reconnect is meant to preserve the device’s name, room placement, routines, and Home Security setup when ALYT can recover the same device. For locks, Reconnect never sends a lock or unlock command.

Delete a Zigbee device from your home

Use Delete device only when the device should leave your home. This is different from reconnecting it.

  1. Open the Zigbee device you want to remove.
  2. Choose Delete device.
  3. Review the effects shown before you confirm. ALYT can show routine changes, and it can also warn you if the device will be removed from Home Security.
  4. Confirm the removal only if you want that device to leave this home.
  5. If you decide not to remove it, choose Keep device instead.

If ALYT says the device did not confirm that it left, remove it locally only when you will perform a physical reset before pairing it again.

Forget all devices remembered by the Zigbee radio

The Zigbee radio is part of the hub. Its removal action is Forget its devices, not Disconnect. Forget its devices removes remembered device pairings from this home, and those devices may need to be paired again afterwards.

  1. Open Zigbee in Integrations. [Integrations, puzzle]Integrations
  2. Choose Forget its devices. [Forget its devices, puzzle]Forget its devices
  3. Read the number of devices that will be forgotten before you confirm.
  4. If you do not want to continue, choose Keep it. [Keep it, puzzle]Keep it
  5. Confirm only if you intend to pair those devices again.

Afterwards, the hub radio itself remains available, and rooms keep their other devices.

Focused troubleshooting

  • If nothing joins, make sure the device is in the exact pairing mode shown for that model and that the two-minute join window is still open.
  • If the instructions shown in ALYT do not match your device, stop and use Support instead of trying another brand’s reset steps.
  • If a battery-powered device does not appear to finish setup, wait for its next check-in and use the on-screen wake instructions if they are shown.
  • If a device was previously paired somewhere else, it may need the model-specific reset steps before it can join this home again.
  • If you opened a notification for a Zigbee device, remember that the notification only opens that saved device after ALYT verifies that your signed-in account still has access to its home. Opening the notification does not send a command.
  • If you are reconnecting a lock, keep the door open and follow the instructions shown for that model while ALYT checks it.
