Open the device
- Choose your home, then open the device you want to adjust from Home or Devices.
- On the device page, look for the Assistant section and the Speaker output section. If a control is not shown, that device did not report it.
Adjust the assistant
- In the Assistant section, use Listening to turn the assistant listener on or off.Listening
- Check Muted on the device if you want to confirm whether the hardware mute is on. This is a read-only status.
- Set Announce volume to change how loud spoken answers are in this home.Announce volume
- Set Playback to choose how the device handles spoken answers. The available choices are Let the room decide, Duck the music, and Take over the speakers.Playback
- Use Identify this device only when you want the device to play its identification signal.Identify this device
Adjust speaker output
- In the Speaker output section, set Output volume to change the local speaker level for that device.Output volume
What you should see afterwards
- The control stays on the same device page after you change it.
- A setting that was accepted reflects the new value when the device reports back.
- Muted on the device remains a status reading, not a setting you can change here.
- If a control is missing, that feature is not available on that device.
Troubleshooting
If a device does not respond, check that it still has power and that its connection looks healthy. Unknown means the device has not reported a valid value yet, not Off or zero.
If a change is still pending or is rejected, wait for the device to answer before trying again. Repeating the same request does not help diagnose the problem.
If you do not see Listening, Announce volume, Playback, Identify this device, or Output volume, that device does not currently provide that control.
