Find a device
Devices shows the physical devices ALYT can see in your home. Service items such as music libraries and presence-only phone records do not appear in this device list.
- Open Devices.
- If your home has more than 6 devices, use the search field to find a device by its name or by the room it is in.
- Look through the room sections for connected devices. If a device is not in a room, it appears under Not in a room.
- If a device is currently unavailable, look at the Not connected section at the bottom.
- Select the device to open its page.
Afterward, you should see the device page with the device name, its current summary, its status, and the controls and settings that this device supports.
Rename a device on iPhone or Android
You can rename a device from its device page when your account can configure your home.
- Open the device page.
- Select the device name to edit it.
- Enter the new name. Names can be up to 80 characters.
- Choose Save the name to save the new name.Save the name
- If you decide not to change it, Keep the old name cancels the name edit.
Afterward, you should see the updated device name on the page and in your device lists.
[Save the name, check]
Move a device to a room
When room assignment is available for your account, you can change which room a device belongs to from the device page.
- Open the device page.
- Find the Room setting.
- Choose the room you want. You can also choose Not in a room if that option is shown.
- Wait while ALYT shows Moving.
- Confirm the result when ALYT shows Moved.
Afterward, you should see the device listed in its new room, or under Not in a room if you removed its room assignment.
Pin a device to your dashboard
If dashboard pinning is available for your home, you can add a device from its device page.
- Open the device page.
- Choose Pin to dashboard.Pin to dashboard
Afterward, you should see the device appear on your dashboard.
[Pin to dashboard, plus]
Read device status and controls
A device page only shows the controls and settings that the device actually supports. Sensors are read-only. Lights, switches, speakers, thermostats, curtains, locks, cameras, hubs, and other devices can show different controls.
- Unknown is not Off.
- Waiting for the device means a change was held.
- Change not confirmed means the outcome is still unknown.
- These messages do not prove that a lock, curtain, or other device physically moved.
- Do not repeat a consequential action as a connection test.
On phones, some devices open with a stage view first, such as lights, cameras, speakers, locks, thermostats, curtains, coffee machines, sensors, switches, and some remotes. From that view you can open more details and settings for the same device.
On the web, a camera can open a player instead of a simple toggle. On TV, you can use everyday controls and status, but setup, repair, and removal stay on phone or web.
Check connection details
Use the device page when you need more detail about whether ALYT can currently reach the device.
- Open the device page.
- Open Details.
- Review the connection information that is shown there, such as signal, measured detail, access point, and the device's last state.
For an eligible Zigbee device, the details can show the last verified radio contact and whether a sleeping battery device is overdue.
Afterward, you should have a clearer view of whether the device is online, offline, not heard from, disabled, or still waiting on a reported result.
Use supported connection recovery
Some eligible devices offer supported recovery actions on their device page.
- Open the device page.
- Check the connection section or details for an available recovery option.
- If Reconnect is offered, read the on-screen instructions and follow them for that model.
- Wait for ALYT to continue the saved operation if you close and reopen the app later.
Reconnect keeps the device identity, name, room, routine references, and Home Security membership while the hub waits for a real report and restores configuration.
This action does not lock, unlock, brew, or otherwise operate the device.
Delete an eligible Zigbee device
Only eligible Zigbee devices show this removal flow.
- Open the device page.
- Choose Delete device if it is available.
- Review the effects on routines and Home Security.
- Confirm the removal only if you want to remove the device and its owned references.
- If you do not want to continue, Keep device cancels the removal.
If the radio cannot confirm that the device left, ALYT offers local removal only with a clear requirement to physically reset the device before pairing it again.
Afterward, the device is removed only if you confirmed the action.
Use endpoint-specific page settings
Some endpoint device pages include extra settings.
- Enabled or Disabled can deliberately take an endpoint out of room actions and suppress its offline notice while it is unplugged or put away.
- This setting is separate from a device power command.
- Some endpoints can be presented as Light or Switch.
- Doorbell announcement appears only for a device that exposes that doorbell camera setting.
Wait for the saved result on these settings. A failed save does not confirm the change.
Open a device from a notification
A device notification opens the saved device only after ALYT checks the signed-in account and your current access to that home.
- If you still have access, ALYT selects that home and opens the device.
- If access was removed, or a different account is signed in, ALYT explains that it cannot open the device.
- The notification link never authorizes access and never sends a device command by itself.
