Adjust a thermostat

Open the correct home, then open the thermostat device. The page shows the live reading first. Target is the requested temperature, not the current room temperature.

1. Find Target and use the controls next to it to raise or lower the requested temperature. The value moves in the device’s allowed range.Target
2. Choose Mode and select one of the options the thermostat shows: Off, Heat, Cool, or Auto.Mode
3. If Fan appears on the thermostat page, choose the available fan option on that device.Fan
4. If Hold appears on the thermostat page, use that control only when you want the thermostat to keep the current setting.Hold

After you change a thermostat, you should see the requested Target value update on the page. The measured room temperature remains separate from the request.

Adjust a fan

Open the fan device you want to change. A fan can show different controls depending on the hardware that is installed.

1. Use Power to turn the fan on or off.Power
2. Use Speed to change how fast the fan runs.Speed
3. Use Oscillate if you want the fan to sweep side to side.Oscillate
4. Use Preset only if the fan shows preset choices on that page.Preset

Afterward, the fan page should show the current power state and any other reported fan settings for that device.

What you should see afterward

• The page keeps showing the same device.
• The value you chose remains on the page as the requested setting.
• Any controls the device does not report stay hidden.

If the device does not respond

Unknown means no valid reading, not Off or zero. A requested value can be provisional until the home answers.

1. Check that you opened the correct device.
2. Check the displayed connection or liveness if it is shown on the page.
3. If the device is unreachable, check power and try again later.
4. If the value still does not change, use Support with the room, device name, and the observed problem.
