Add a Bluetooth curtain

WebiPhoneAndroid

Add one SwitchBot via hub Bluetooth curtain to your home, then calibrate its travel limits on the web, iPhone, or Android. The current homeowner workflow supports Curtain 3, bounded scanning, single-motor or paired-motor commission where supported, and attended calibration for a supported motor. TV offers supported everyday controls for an added curtain, but setup stays on web, iPhone, and Android.

Add a Bluetooth curtain

This workflow adds a Bluetooth curtain through your ALYT hub, gives it a name and room, then lets you calibrate its travel limits if the motor reports support for that setup. The released local flow supports Curtain 3. TV offers supported everyday controls for an added curtain, but TV does not scan, add, or calibrate the device.

  1. Choose Hub, then choose Scan for 30 seconds. Wait for the completed result. If you need to stop discovery, choose Stop scan. Stop scan ends only the discovery request; it does not stop a motor.HubScan for 30 secondsStop scanStop
  2. Select one motor, or two motors you know belong to the same curtain. Nearby devices are never paired automatically. If the scan shows a paired installation, select both matching motors together.
  3. Enter Curtain name and choose Room, or leave it on Assign later. If ALYT finds a cloud duplicate, explicitly keep the cloud connection unchanged and add this separate hub link.Curtain nameRoom
  4. Choose Add curtain. After that, wait for the owning hub’s report. Position not reported and Battery unknown mean a reading is missing, not zero.Add curtain

After this step, the curtain appears in your home as a commissioned device. If the device needs travel limits, open Configuration from the device screen and continue with setup there.

Calibrate a supported motor

Open Configuration from the curtain’s device screen only when the device says it needs setup or the screen shows that the current motor supports calibration. The wizard appears only when that exact commissioned motor and hub report the required action set. If the screen says Calibration update required, keep the existing setup and update the hub before trying again.

  1. On the first screen, confirm that you are beside the curtain and that its path is clear. Then choose Let’s set it up.Let’s set it up
  2. Under Which way does it open?, choose the direction that matches the fabric movement, then choose Continue.Continue
  3. Make sure the curtain is fully closed, then choose Begin calibration.Begin calibration
  4. Choose Start opening and watch the curtain continuously. Stop pauses movement. Continue can resume it. At the preferred endpoint, choose Fully open.Start openingStopContinueFully open
  5. Choose Start closing. Again, watch the curtain continuously. Stop pauses movement. Continue can resume it. At the original closed endpoint, choose Fully closed.Start closingStopContinueFully closed
  6. Keep the screen open while the motor saves and confirms its limits. The process can repeat bounded reads while it waits for confirmation. When the motor confirms valid travel, Calibration saved appears and you can choose Done.Done

What you should see afterwards

  • The curtain is listed in your home with the name and room you chose.
  • If calibration was completed, the device screen shows ordinary controls such as open, close, stop, and target position when the installed connection offers them.
  • When movement is in progress, the interface shows Waiting for the motor’s report until the motor reports back.
  • For a supported motor, the configuration screen shows the saved travel result and the calibration state instead of setup prompts.
  • TV offers supported everyday controls for an added curtain, while setup remains on web, iPhone, and Android.

Troubleshooting

If no device appears during the scan, move the hub closer and start one new bounded scan. Keep using Scan for 30 seconds, not repeated back-to-back scans.

If a motor is missing from a paired curtain, select only the matching motors you know belong to that same curtain. Nearby motors are never paired automatically.

If Add curtain is disabled, check that you have selected a hub, chosen one or two motors, and entered a Curtain name.

If the calibration wizard does not appear, the installed hub may not yet report the required support for that motor. Keep the current setup and update the hub before trying again.

If a movement or save does not confirm, stop and check the curtain before repeating the step. Do not repeat an unconfirmed movement request.

If the screen says the curtain is already added through the cloud, keep the cloud connection unchanged unless you explicitly want a separate hub connection.

If you are using TV, remember that TV offers supported everyday controls, but the add and calibration workflow stays on web, iPhone, and Android.
