Use lights and smart switches

WebiPhoneAndroid

Use your light or switch page to turn power on or off, adjust brightness, choose a white warmth, or pick a colour when the bulb supports it. The page only shows controls the device reports, and reported state can lag briefly while the home answers a request.

Open the device

  1. Open Home or Devices, then open the light or smart switch you want to change.
  2. Use the device page you see for that item. If the page shows a light, you may see Power, Brightness, Warmth, and Colour. If it shows a switch, you may see Power only.PowerPowerBrightnessWarmth
  3. Use the controls that are visible on that page. Do not expect a colour control on a white-only light.

The page only shows what the device reports. If a control is missing, that control is not available for that device.

Change the light

  1. Tap Power to turn the light on or off.PowerPower
  2. If Brightness is shown, drag it to set the light level.Brightness
  3. If Warmth is shown, adjust it to make the light warmer or cooler.Warmth
  4. If Colour is shown, choose the colour you want.Colour
  5. If the page shows white preset circles, tap one of those instead of the Colour control when you want a white look.Colour

Brightness, Warmth, and Colour appear only when the light reports those capabilities. A request can stay provisional for a short time until the home answers.

Use a smart switch

  1. Tap Power to turn the switch on or off.PowerPower

A smart switch page does not offer Brightness, Warmth, or Colour. If you do not see them, that is expected.

What you should see afterwards

The page should update to show the new reported state. If the change is still waiting, the page can show a provisional state until the device answers. If the device reports nothing yet, unknown means no valid reading, not Off or zero.

Troubleshooting

  1. If the light or switch does not change, check that the device is powered and that the page shows the correct home and device name.
  2. If a value does not confirm right away, wait for the home to answer instead of pressing the control repeatedly.
  3. If the device seems unreachable, check the displayed connection and try again after the device comes back online.
  4. If the page shows only Power, the device does not report brightness, warmth, or colour on this screen.PowerPower
