What Dashboard shows
Dashboard is the household landing screen. It shows weather for the home's address, the home's clock, and the devices or routines the household has pinned. On web and phone, it is the same saved board for that home, not a separate board for each device.
Add a pin
Open the device or routine you want to keep on Dashboard. Choose Pin to dashboard. The change saves immediately, and then you can return to Dashboard to see it.

- Return to Dashboard to confirm the item appears.
If the control instead reads On the dashboard, the item is already pinned. Choosing On the dashboard removes the pin, and you can leave it there if you want to keep it on the board.
Use a pinned routine
A pinned routine behaves differently by platform. On the phone, opening the tile shows the routine details first, and you use a hold to run it from Dashboard. On the web, the routine card offers Run now, so the gesture is not the same there.
On the phone, hold the pinned routine tile to run it directly from Dashboard. While you are holding, the label changes from Hold to run to Keep holding to run. Holding is deliberate, so the routine does not fire from a quick tap.
The phone routine view opens first when you tap the tile. That means you should read the routine and then use the hold when you want to run it from the board.
Holding Music pauses rooms that are playing. Music starts with no room selected. If no room is playing, holding Music opens the Music screen instead of choosing a remembered room.
What you should see afterwards
- Pinned items stay on the Dashboard board for that home.
- A routine tile shows its current status instead of looking empty.
- The weather area shows the home's weather only when the address has been saved and found.
- If nothing is pinned, the board says Nothing pinned yet.
Troubleshooting
If you do not see a new pin, go back to the item's page and check whether the button now reads On the dashboard. If it does, the pin is already saved. If the board still does not update, return to Dashboard and refresh the view.
If the board says The board could not be read, this is an error rather than an empty board. Try again after the home connection settles.
If weather does not appear, check the home address. Weather without a saved, located address cannot be invented, so correct the address if it was not found.
If a routine does not run, check that you held the pinned routine tile long enough on the phone, or use Run now on the web.
