Set your home name, address and time

WebiPhoneAndroid

Use Home settings to change your home name and address, and to check or adjust the home timezone. On the web, you can also review Media connections for Sonos and Plex from the same home settings area.

Change the home name, address, and time settings on web

Open Home settings from the Home gear. In the home card, update Name, Address, and Timezone, then choose Save.

  1. Open Home settings. The home name, address, and timezone are shown together.Home settings
  2. Change Name if you want a different home name.
  3. Change Address to the street, city, and country for the home.
  4. Change Timezone if the home should use a different local time.
  5. Choose Save.Save

After you save, the home card keeps the new name. The address is saved once and used for weather and sunrise and sunset. Local time now and Sunrise and sunset today help you check that the selected timezone and location match the home.

Change the home name and address on iPhone and Android

Open Settings, then use the This home card. On phone, the app shows Home name and Home address for the home. It also shows Timezone as a reading.

  1. Open Settings from the avatar screen.
  2. Find the This home card.
  3. Update Home name if needed.
  4. Update Home address if needed.
  5. Choose Save.Save

On phone, the timezone is shown but not edited in this screen. Use web Home settings if you need to change the home timezone.

Review Media connections on web and phone

The Media connections card is available for the home in Settings. It lists Sonos and Plex separately. The two services have different choices on web and phone, and the choices change the home’s media route, not where the home itself is hosted.

  1. Open Media connections in web Home settings or in phone Settings.Home settings
  2. For Sonos, choose the available route that fits your home.
  3. For Plex, choose the available route that fits your home.
  4. Choose only a choice that is available for that service.
  5. Wait for the saved result.

On web, the labels are Use home default, Through the cloud, Through the local connector, and Not enabled where supported. On phone, the labels are Automatic, Play through the cloud, Through the local connector, and Do not use Plex. Use home default and Automatic both mean the home default choice for that service. Through the cloud and Play through the cloud both mean the cloud route. Through the local connector uses the local connector for the home. Not enabled and Do not use Plex are shown only where that service does not support a live route for the home.

What you should see afterwards

  • The home name appears in the home card and in Settings.
  • The address stays saved with the home and supports weather plus sunrise and sunset.
  • The timezone you chose controls the home’s local time, routine schedule, and quiet hours.
  • On web, Media connections shows the current Sonos and Plex choices after you save.

Troubleshooting

If a change does not save, check that you have home configuration permission. If the screen shows an error, read the message and try again after correcting the value.

If the address is not found, try the city and country instead of a full street address. Then choose Save again.

If Media connections shows Not enabled or Do not use Plex, that is a valid current state for that service. It does not mean the home is broken. If a local choice is unavailable, the home does not have the required connector for that route.

If you are on phone and cannot find a timezone editor, that is expected. Use the web Home settings screen to change Timezone.

Do not use Plex when the service is unavailable for the home. If the app says the current values are unknown, wait and try again rather than guessing new values.
