Recorded state after restart or internet loss

WebiPhoneAndroid

ALYT can keep the last recorded device reading through a local restart or an internet outage, but that reading keeps its original age. A recovered reading is not the same as a new device report, and it does not confirm that a command just worked.

Check what the recorded state means

Recorded state belongs to your home in ALYT. It is separate from a conversation, separate from a request to change a device, and separate from the physical result of that request.

  1. Open the affected home in ALYT on web, iPhone, or Android.
  2. Open the affected device and look at the reading that concerns you, such as power, brightness, contact, or battery.
  3. Treat the recorded reading and the device’s real-world condition as separate until the reading is clearly current.
  4. If the reading returned after a restart or after internet service came back, assume it may be older unless ALYT shows a newer report for that same reading.

Unknown does not mean Off, closed, safe, or complete. A battery report does not confirm a lock movement, and a connected hub does not by itself confirm that a past reading is new.

What happens after a restart or internet loss

ALYT keeps a separate recorded environmental history for your home. When that local service restarts, or when your internet connection drops and later returns, ALYT can recover the last valid recorded facts for supported readings.

  • Recovered readings keep their original age.
  • A recovered reading does not become fresh just because the service restarted.
  • A reading with uncertain timing stays uncertain.
  • Old recorded events are not replayed as new button presses, routine runs, or physical actions.

This recovery does not replace your saved device names, settings, or routines. It only restores the bounded recorded state that ALYT had already kept.

What you should see afterwards

After recovery, the device page may show the same last known reading you saw before the restart or outage. If no newer device report has arrived, that reading can still be stale or unknown.

  • A supported reading may still appear with its previous value.
  • A missing or incomplete history can remain incomplete.
  • A device that was removed, reassigned, or no longer available does not come back only because an older record existed.
  • Local control or routines may still work even if a recorded reading is temporarily unavailable.

Use device control carefully when state is unclear

If the recorded state is unclear, keep the requested action separate from the physical outcome. Avoid repeating a consequential action just because the page did not update the way you expected.

  1. If the device matters for safety or access, verify the physical result when it is safe to do so.
  2. For locks, curtains, doors, or similar devices, do not assume that a request succeeded only because ALYT accepted it.
  3. For lights and other simple controls, a later device report can confirm the current value, but an older recovered value does not.

Cloud-dependent features still need their provider and network connection. Local connectors and local routine steps can continue to operate in the home, but that does not mean every assistant request works offline.
