Understand what a suggestion means
A suggestion is a proposed change that ALYT checks against your selected home, your current access and the current device context. It is not the same as permission to act, and it is not proof that something already happened in your home.
- A suggestion does not grant execution.
- Policy summaries do not grant execution.
- Validation by itself does not change a device or run a routine.
- Approval is separate from execution.
- A physical result must be confirmed from the real device state, not from suggestion text alone.
Check whether a suggestion matches your home now
- Make sure you are viewing your own home in ALYT on web, iPhone or Android.
- Open the affected device and check its current room, available control and current reading.
- Compare the suggestion with what the device actually supports now. ALYT currently qualifies light set changes only for supported light controls.
- If the suggestion depends on a recent reading, confirm that the reading is still current before you rely on it.
- If you still want to change the device, use the normal device controls and then check the real result on the device page.
Understand why a suggestion may be refused
ALYT can refuse a suggestion when the current situation no longer matches the original checked context.
- Your current home access changed.
- The selected home changed.
- The device, room or supported control changed.
- The value is not supported for that control.
- The evidence is no longer current enough to qualify.
- The suggestion refers to something outside the supported suggestion family.
Routine names do not authorize everything inside a routine. For a routine suggestion to qualify, its installed version and its full nested actions must still match what ALYT checked. A routine can still work normally from its usual controls even when a model suggestion for that routine is refused.
Understand approval and permission
- Treat any approval as applying only to the exact suggested change that was reviewed.
- If the value, device, routine details or home context changes, expect that a new suggestion needs its own approval.
- Do not rely on retrying, reconnecting or signing in again to reuse older permission.
- After any approved action is sent through normal ALYT behavior, check the real device state to confirm the outcome.
What you should see afterwards
- Your regular Devices controls remain available as usual.
- Your saved routines keep their existing supported behavior.
- A refused suggestion does not disable normal manual control.
- Checking the device directly gives you the most reliable result.
Troubleshooting
- If a suggestion does not make sense, first confirm that you selected the correct home.
- If a suggestion refers to a device state that no longer matches the device page, use the current device reading instead of the older suggestion.
- If a value cannot be applied, the device may not currently support that exact control or value.
- If a routine suggestion is refused, the routine may still be available from its normal controls even though the suggestion did not qualify.
- If you need help, contact Support with the selected home, affected device, what the suggestion said and what you actually observed. Do not include passwords or private service credentials.
