Check the actual device reading
ALYT keeps a requested goal, an estimate and a recorded physical reading separate. A goal describes what you want. An estimate is an explanation based on current evidence. A recorded reading is the device or sensor state ALYT currently has for your home.
- Select the correct home.
- Open Devices.
- Open the affected device.
- Check the device room, supported reading, connection status and the current device reading.
- Compare that reading with what you physically observe in your home.
Use the device reading and the physical result to confirm what happened. A Wi-Fi device being present does not prove who is in a room. A battery update does not confirm a lock or curtain movement.
On web, iPhone and Android, use the same task: select the right home, open Devices and open the affected device.
Understand why a goal or estimate may disappear
Goals and estimates are kept only for a bounded time. Estimates require current cited physical evidence and current access to the home.
- An estimate can expire while the underlying sensor reading is still valid.
- An estimate can be withheld when its evidence changes.
- An estimate can be withheld when room or device assignment changes.
- An estimate can be withheld when your current access to the home changes.
- Reconnection, replay and cached summaries do not make old evidence fresh.
Unknown evidence does not mean Off, closed, safe or complete. A summary is a replaceable explanation, not a replacement for device readings. Your recorded device state, names, rooms and saved routines keep their original meaning.
Keep action and result separate
A retained goal or estimate does not give someone permission to control devices, create an unattended rule or confirm a physical outcome. ALYT uses ordinary access, approval, deterministic control and physical evidence to decide those matters.
Local control does not mean every assistant request is processed locally or works without its cloud provider.
If a result matters, verify the affected device reading in Devices and check the physical result in your home before repeating the action.
Understand repeated readings and unavailable explanations
Repeated unchanged sensor readings do not need a new explanation. ALYT limits event interpretation to relevant fresh changes and bounded goals.
A slow or unavailable explanation does not hold up ordinary local routines, security or device controls. Reconnection does not turn old events into new physical actions.
If an explanation expires or is withdrawn, that is not proof that a device changed or that protection failed. Check the current device reading instead.
What you should see afterwards
- You can confirm the current device reading in Devices for the correct home.
- You can tell the difference between a goal, an estimate and an actual reading.
- You know that estimates can expire or be withdrawn even when a device still has a valid reading.
- You know to verify a physical result separately from an explanation or suggestion.
