Choose what your home-screen widget shows

Choose the widget contents

1. Open Settings, then Widget.Widget
2. Choose the home you want this phone's widget to show.
3. Select the thermostat, temperatures, and buttons you want the widget to show. The screen offers supported device controls and routines. Readings are values, not buttons.
4. If you do not choose anything, the widget follows the pinned tiles.
5. Changes save as you make them. There is no separate Save button.

If the widget can act on your home

A widget button runs outside the app, so this phone can use a separate key for the home you selected. The screen can show the devices that already have that key and can let you take the key back.

1. In Settings > Widget, open the section for buttons that act.Widget
2. If this phone does not already have a key, choose Let this phone act.
3. To remove access from one phone, choose the trash control for that phone's entry.

Restore older widget choices

If an older app build saved widget choices before they belonged to a specific home, the Widget screen can offer them for recovery. Nothing is restored automatically.

1. In Settings > Widget, find Previous widget choices.Widget
2. Check the home name shown there before you restore anything.
3. Choose Restore choices if you want those older buttons and temperatures back for that home.

What you should see afterwards

• The widget shows the home and choices you selected on the Widget screen.
• If you chose no explicit buttons, it follows the pinned tiles.
• On iPhone, the large widget shows the thermostat, temperatures, and four buttons. The medium widget shows only the buttons. The small widget shows the thermostat.
• On Android, the widget shows your thermostat, your temperatures, and four buttons in a single widget that can be resized both ways.
• If the widget has a separate key for this phone, the screen shows that it can act on this home.

Troubleshooting

If the widget still shows old information, open ALYT, confirm that you are signed in to the correct home, and check the Widget screen again. iPhone and Android both use native refresh paths, so the update can wait for the operating system to redraw the widget.

If you signed out, the widget must stop offering authorized controls. Sign in again and open ALYT if you want the widget to receive the home's current configuration.

If a control now needs confirmation, the widget does not offer it as a one-press action. An older saved choice that now requires confirmation opens ALYT instead of acting from the widget.

If you are on Android and the widget still seems out of date after the home changed, open ALYT and recheck the Widget screen. Android checks for obsolete home selections are still being completed, so behavior is not the same as iPhone yet.
