Change a Zigbee fan setting
- Choose your home and open Devices.
- Open the fan or its separately named fan target.
- On web, iPhone, and Android, use the device’s reported capabilities. Pick one offered preset only if it is available for that fan and its mapped control.
- Select a preset such as Off, Low, Medium, High, On, Auto, or Smart only when that exact choice is offered for the fan. Do not assume every fan offers all seven choices.
- If the control is read-only or unavailable, do not expect it to send a command.
Read back the result
A fan-mode report describes the setting that ALYT received. It does not prove measured airflow or rotation.
- Check the current fan reading after the change.
- Read the original observation time and the displayed report origin.
- If the reading says Reading age unknown or Not current, do not treat it as proof of the present setting.
- If the change was interrupted or never confirmed by a fresh device report, treat the result as uncertain and check the latest device reading before trying again.
Platform notes
- Web, iPhone, and Android use the device’s reported capabilities for this task.
- The fan target may be separately named from the original physical device page, but it still uses the same device-resident hub.
- Changing catalogue filters does not reconfigure a fan that has already been acquired.
What you should see afterwards
- The fan page shows the selected offered preset if the device reported it back.
- The reading includes whether the report is current or not current.
- The reading also shows the report origin and the original time when that information is available.
Troubleshooting
If the result does not match what you chose, open the fan page again and check the latest reading before sending another change. A battery or radio-contact report does not refresh fan mode. A read-only or unavailable control cannot change the fan. For Inovelli VZM35-SN and VZM36, the fan endpoint and mode reports are separate from power, and the light remains a separate target. For IKEA STARKVIND E2007 and E2006, the reported speed is an index from 0–9, not a percentage. For FanBee, the raw speed scale is 1–254 and power is separate. For the Tuya _TZE284_z5jz7wpo module, the report may land on one of its supported steps rather than the exact value you requested.
