Check a connected button

WebiPhoneAndroid

Check the connected button in its device details to see the most recent press event. Last press is read-only. It does not press the button and it does not create an automation.

Open the button device

Choose the correct home, open Home or Devices, then open the button device. Only the capabilities returned for that device are shown in its details, so the available readings can vary by hardware.

  1. Choose the correct home.
  2. Open Home or Devices.
  3. Open the button device.

Read the last press

In the device details, look for Button. The exact generic label is Last press. It is a read-only reading. Seeing it tells you the most recent press event that ALYT received for that device.

  1. Find Button in the device details.
  2. Read Last press.

What you should see afterwards

  • The device details stay open.
  • Last press shows the most recent valid reading, or it may remain unknown if no valid reading has arrived.
  • No new automation or action is created by viewing the reading.

If the reading does not update

Unknown means no valid reading, not Off or zero. If the device is unreachable, check its power and the displayed connection. Do not repeatedly run an action to diagnose a failed read. If the problem continues, use Support with the room, device name, and the problem you observed.
