Use Add a device to add a Zigbee button or remote to your home, choose the room first, then open the pairing window and follow the brand-specific steps until the device appears.

Before you start

Open the correct home before you begin. This workflow is for your own home in ALYT. A Zigbee button or remote joins the hub's built-in Zigbee radio. It is not added through a separate brand account, and there is no vendor app step in this workflow. If Device setup is managed by your partner appears, you cannot continue here.

Have the device, its battery, and any small reset opening or reset button ready. Some devices join as soon as they are in pairing mode. Others need a reset first if they were already used on another hub.

Open the pairing sheet

  1. From Home or Devices, choose Add a device. On the Zigbee integration, you can also choose Let devices join.Add a deviceLet devices join
  2. Choose What are you adding? and pick the brand.
  3. If the sheet asks for a family or model, choose the correct one for your device.
  4. Choose Start pairing.Start pairing

The joining window lasts two minutes once the hub confirms that it is open. Opening requested is not the same as open. Refreshing the status does not extend the window.

Shelly

Use this section for the four-button remote or the four-button wall switch. Keep the device near the hub while it steers.

  1. If the device was already on another hub, reset it first. Press and hold any button for 30 seconds within 3 minutes of powering the device on after inserting the battery.
  2. On the four-button remote, the LED blinks cyan while you hold the button and turns red after 14 blinks. Release the button then.
  3. On the four-button wall switch, the LED turns on after 30 seconds.
  4. While the network is open, press any button five times to start the Zigbee steering process.
  5. Wait while it steers for one minute. The four-button remote blinks magenta. The wall switch flashes twice in succession at two-second intervals.
  6. When the device appears, give it a name and choose its Room.

SONOFF

Use this section for the wireless button or the four-way wireless button. These buttons sleep to save battery. Press a button briefly if you need to keep the device awake while you set it up.

  1. Remove the back cover. The reset button is under it, next to the battery.
  2. While the network is open, press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds.
  3. The indicator flashes slowly while the device is in pairing mode. On the four-way wireless button, that mode lasts 3 minutes. On the one-button model, the indicator flashes slowly for 180 seconds.
  4. If you are pairing the four-way wireless button for the first time, it may enter pairing mode by default after power is applied. It leaves that state if it is not paired within 3 minutes.
  5. If you are using the four-way wireless button, make sure its slide switch is in Zigbee Mode, which is its default.
  6. When the device appears, give it a name and choose its Room.

Name it and finish

  1. Watch the joining panel until the device appears.
  2. Give it a name. Suggested names are editable and may open already filled in.
  3. Choose its Room.
  4. Choose Done.Done

If the family suggests a room name and exactly one room in your home has that name, Place in that room puts it there in one step. The phone app and the web show the same brands, families, steps, and suggestions, read from your home rather than built into the app.

What you should see afterwards

After setup, the device appears in your home and you can open it from Home or Devices. A four-button device is shown as a remote. A one-button device is shown as a button. The device page shows the drawing for the device, the last press in words, and any battery or signal information the device reported.

If the device has never been pressed, the page shows No press yet.

Troubleshooting

If nothing joins, check that the device is in the correct pairing mode for its brand and family, then choose Start pairing again while the joining window is still open. If the window has closed, open it again first.

If the device joined but never reports a press, wake it if needed and press a button again. A missing battery reading does not by itself mean pairing failed. A device that is still being read is not the same as a device that never joined; wait for the displayed outcome before trying again.

If the device was already on another hub, follow only the reset steps shown for the brand and family you chose. Do not use another brand's reset gesture.

If you still cannot finish, note the room, the device name, and what you observed before asking for help.
