Check the device and what actually happened
On web, iPhone, or Android, select the correct home, open Devices, and open the affected device. Check its room, connection, actual reading, and reading time. Confirm the physical result separately. Approval or an acknowledgement is not proof that a light changed, and an unknown reading does not mean Off or complete.
- Select the correct home.
- Open Devices.
- Open the affected device.
- Check the room, connection, actual reading, and reading time.
- Compare what you see in ALYT with the real device in the home.
If the reading is unclear, keep the original change and its time in your notes. Cancellation withdraws permission for work that has not been sent. It cannot take back a frame already sent to a device.
Understand a cancelled change
A cancelled change stops work that has not yet been sent. It does not undo a physical result that already happened. If the device changed before the cancellation took effect, the device keeps that physical state until you make a new change.
Do not repeat the same change just to test whether the cancellation worked. Repeating the same change to resolve uncertainty can produce another physical effect.
Understand an expired change
Prepared model-directed light changes have finite local permission lasting at most 45 seconds, or less when the original access or evidence expires. If that permission expires, ALYT does not keep extending it. Signing in again, retrying old text, and reconnecting do not renew old permission.
A restart or changed installed routine also invalidates the old path. If the change expired, use the supported manual control or create a new change with current permission.
What to do during an outage or uncertain result
During an internet or connection outage, the hub knows only the last permission update it received. A cancellation that has not reached it cannot be treated as immediately known locally. The original grant expires; reconnection does not extend it or automatically repeat an uncertain change.
If the result is unclear, keep the original change and its time in your notes, check the real device, and use Support. Include the selected home, affected device, original time, connection state, what was requested, and what you actually observed. Keep passwords and private service credentials out of Support notes.
What you should see afterwards
- The affected device still shows its current room, connection, and reading in ALYT.
- You know whether the change was cancelled before send, expired before it could be used, or already took effect.
- You have the details needed to make a new supported change or contact Support if the result remains uncertain.
